On behalf of everyone at the Suir Dragon Paddlers CRC,  we would like to offer our sincere condolences to our coach and mentor Dr Tino Castineira and his family on the recent bereavement of his beloved father. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with him at this difficult time.

Sunday 7th April
​Following on from our Sunday morning social paddle it was straight home and into the glad rags and off to celebrate a special birthday! 

We had a wonderful time at Clonacody House with afternoon tea to celebrate the Lady Catherine’s 6th Birthday. Many thanks to Helen, Maureen and the staff for looking after us with a delicious array of savoury and sweet treats.

Sunday 7th April
This week saw us getting back out on to the river. Fortunately the river gods were looking favourably upon us and we were able to train on the river for the first time in weeks and conditions were perfect for our Sunday morning paddle.

Evening training is starting back over the coming days, alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday evenings so keep an eye out for notifications. 

To be honest it doesn't take much to get us into the Gladrags but it was all in a good cause and so Friday 1st March saw the Suir Dragon Paddlers in Hotel Minella for the 17th Annual Care lunch and as usual the event was greatly supported. We enjoyed great food, guest speakers and a fashion show followed by entertainment in the bar but perhaps best of all we enjoyed each other's company. 

This is a very special invitation offered to all members of the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission (IBCPC).

As a breast cancer survivor and member of IBCPC, you are invited to submit an expression of interest to attend one of the Send Me on Vacation (SMOV) programs for 2019.

Individuals can attend either as a new recipient or an ‘angel’. All new recipients or angels must be breast cancer survivors. Click on the link below for more information.​

Unfortunately the Monasterevin to Athy "Fun Paddle" has been postponed for the moment. KACC will inform us once a new date has been decided upon. However, we still have the 10km Circuit Dragonboat Run in Carlow to look forward to, Kathleen is currently taking names for the event which will take place Sunday 24th March. We are all so proud here at Suir Dragon Paddlers of our very own Annette Hahessy. Annette is part of the choir named "Sea of Change" that took part in Ireland's Got Talent on Saturday night wowing judges with their inspirational version of "This is me!" 

All of the women in the choir have been affected by cancer either directly or through a loved one and their emotional performance last night prompted  the judge Denise Van Outen to give them a “golden buzzer” into the live semi-finals.

We can't wait to see more of Annette and Sea of Change in the live semi-finals and we will have our voting fingers at the ready!

Annette you and your lovely friends are an inspiration to women everywhere and we wish you continued success in the competition.
