Following on from October's Breast Cancer Awareness month night out and our recent auction and raffle, club members Teresa, Ruth, Carmel, Ann, Eileen, Kathleen and Annette were delighted to present a cheque for the sum of €466.20 to Grainne and Lisa of CARE Cancer Support Centre Clonmel.
Well done ladies!
Well done to members of the Suir Dragon Paddlers who were recently invited to participate in the inaugural Applefest festival in Clonmel on Sunday, September 30th, 2018
The Applefest aims to highlight and celebrate the agricultural and industrial heritage of Clonmel while promoting biodiversity and well being, and what better what to promote well being than taking to the water in a Dragonboat!
With this in mind, our members took this opportunity to promote the club and to explain the ethos behind Dragon boating. This includes raising awareness of breast cancer and the benefits of exercise after a diagnosis, in a fun and physical way while enjoying the mutual support from other members of the club.
Club members were delighted with the interest from the public who were invited to come to the Clonmel Rowing Club and try Dragon boating for themselves at one of our weekly sessions.
If you are interested in joining or supporting the club please contact us on this page.
Proof if it was needed that not only do the Suir Dragon Paddlers train hard but we play hard as well! We had a wonderful evening complete with an auction and raffle with all proceeds going to CARE.
Well done to the out going social committee for organizing a wonderful evening and best of luck to the new incoming committee - we have big shoes to fill!
Members of the Suir Dragon Paddlers were present at the Clonmel library yesterday for the handover of a beautiful quilt made by the Clonmel Craft Circle. The quilt was presented to C.A.R.E cancer support and will be used to raise funds for the centre.
Entitled “Close to My Heart” It is the culmination of a fundraising project initiated by the Suir Dragon Paddlers to raise awareness of breast cancer. Over 3,000 bras were collected and presented to Clonmel Craft Circle who came up with the idea of creating this beautiful piece of work.
It is currently on display as part of the Craft Circle exhibition in Clonmel Library until 9th November. Why not call in to have a look! Well done to everybody involved.
What a wonderful day on the mighty Shannon for the O'Briensbridge 10km Dragon boat challenge hosted by the Shannon Dragons on Sunday 21st October.
Our preparations began the day before getting the boats loaded up and ready to travel to County Clare where we were looking forward to meeting friends from Shannon, Limerick, Nore, Cork and Donegal for the last event of the season.
Beautiful weather and calm waters made for ideal conditions. Four teams took part in the 10k challenge from O'Briensbridge to Castleconnell and we were treated some excellent hospitality afterwards.
Well done to Pat Clancy, Brian and Pat Keady (not pictured) and Michael Maher who joined us for Sunday’s events. They were part of the winning team for the 750 m fun dash.
Well done everyone. We hope you enjoyed the day.
